Today almost everyone looks for a way to disown concequences for their actions. No one wants to deal with something they did not want in the first place. Abortion is another way out. No one knows what it literally means. It is a term. People say "I do not want this baby. I am going to have an abortion." You never hear "I do not want this baby. I am going to get a powerful vacuum to suck the baby apart into a trash bin." Oh no that would be way to harsh. You never hear of the problems women have emotionally, physically, or mentally after they have an abortion. You only hear that it makes a problem disappear. People are not educated well enough on the issue and it is entirely too sugar coated.
In my policy paper I will discuss a policy that says that people need to know what goes on during and after an abortion. Like what types of abortions there are, the effects on a woman's body it can have, why so many people never know what they are really doing, and so on to show how important it is not to protect people from the truth about the process of this act. I think I have enough sources to support what I am going to write about.

Megan, it is clear that you want to change awareness about the abortion procedure itself and it is clear from your proposal that you are emotional about it and that the procedure is gruesome. However, you are not stating why or how you want to increase this awareness! Do you want it taught in a parenting class in high school? Do you want to require every woman planning on having an abortion to take an abortion awareness class? You have not stated/proved that people do not know what the procedure consists in. So in order to make this a persuasive argument rather than an emotional outburst, you need to clearly state what specific change you are calling for and why you think this change is long overdue.
I didn't know exactly what an abortion entailed, but we had to watch one being performed in a religion class at my high school. Needless to say, the thought and image of sucking an innocent child out of it's mom with a vacuum is kinda disturbing. I would definitely talk about the other types of abortions in your paper, but make sure you don't wind up going off on some tangent and emotionally ranting about abortion in general.
The topic you've chosen is a difficult one. It's written on a lot, and usually with very different view points. Just stay objective about the situation and try to keep the emotions out (which I know isn't easy)
